View through the main component of the project - the social engagement space - showing the hierarchy of spaces and activites

Relationship between public outdoor event space and internal aspects of the project including the workshop and exhibition space - using events as a mechanism for engaging local community in casual interaction.

Cut through the two spaces that hang above the public thoroughfare. These spaces join the two physical masses / phases of the project together - expressing a threshold between user engagement and active involvement.

Section through the whole construction - highlighting the juxtaposition of the two main elements - their contrasting aesthetic and construction representing the progression of activity

Analysis of the seedbombing event that was undertaken in Hackney Wick - highlighting the project themes of self-organisation, transgression and collective action.

Diagramatic analogy of the autopoietic system that the project is built around - explaining the processes of collaboration, production and collective progression.

Diagram showing the background to the project and its potential development. Changes in the land value of the local area (due to the Olympics) forcing existing users to form a 'community interest company' that develops the project and its purpose.

The proposal exploits the large amount of waste materials being generated with ongoing developments. The diagram shows the materials, the processing requirements and the potential future uses for the project.

Hackney Wick, London
The 5th year final project looks to provide a socially engaging community facility in the very centre of Hackney Wick. It encourages and enables self-organised groups to initiate, develop and establish: through facilitating social interaction between the areas different actors & agents and providing a platform for them to be collectively developed and shared. Designed around a system, the project facilities include collaborative workspaces, collective meeting spaces, production workshops, project establishment spaces and on-site event areas.
